The Warlock
Well hello everyone, and welcome to Mech Beta's guide to the warlock, affliction spec. Playing a warlock 1-70 has taught me a lot, and now I would like to share, now, sit back, don't relax, hunch your back over and read the guide!
Now to start, a little about the warlock:
The warlock is a class in WoW that is said to one of the most OP(overpowered) classes in the game because of their DoTs (damage over times) and fear. Well this is good forr you, it works :) Here is some info from WoW community site:
| QUOTE | Allowable Races: Human, Gnome, Orc, Undead, Blood Elf Standard Bars: Health/Mana
Allowable equipment: Cloth
Allowable weapons: Daggers, Wands, Swords (with training), Staves (with training)

Thanks bliz, thanks.
Now then to affliction, the DoT spec. This will not only improve your DoT damage, but will add a large amount of moves to your arsenal of doom and DoT.
**Note: This is a 40/0/21 spec, so I will not be covering unstable affliction, although it is very good**
The build I will present and explain is a PvP/PvE spec so have fun with it wherever.

Affliction
Tier 1: 5/5 imprved Corruption
If you don't spec into this for a start, don't spec affliction. Its is simply a must have, and it becomes instant cast with 5/5, so its amazing. Plus it allows you to lay out your DoTs faster.
Tier 2: Improved Soul Drain 2/2
Not a necesity, you can make exceptions, but with your DoTs flying out, it helps to have this for gaining a little mana after finishing up a mob.
Tier 2: Imprved Life Tap 2/2
Life Tap is amazing pure and simple, and this makes it even better. Speccing into this will allow you to gain more mana from life tap by 20%, doesn't seem like much, but you have 8000+ mana at 70, and you run out, this comes in handy.
Tier 2: Soul Siphon 2/2
This move is amazing if your going 41 affliction, it increase life drained from, well life drain, by an extra 4% per affliction affct on the target, fun fun fun :) Now with an extra 20% mana from life tap, this becomes a god send, with extra life, and it comes in handy when an enemy is running away, or just needs that extra kick in the rear to die already.
Tier 3: Improved Curse of Agony 2/2
if your gonna be speccing 40/0/21, your gonna want this so you can clean up for what your missing in quantity of DoTs, and replace it with quality. Plus an extra 10% can have your DoT for draining your enemy for over 1000+ damage.(Not per tick so don't get your hopes up)
Tier 3: Fel Concentration 5/5
Since affliction is abouting DoT'ing and draining, this helps..a lot. I have gone through BG's (Battlegrounds) while being ganked by a stun locking rogue and not have drain life be interupted, very fun to have, and a big help.
Tier 3: Amplify Curse 1/1
This move is good for adding an extra boost to CoA (Curse of Agony) CoD (Curse of Doom...wait why are you using this in PvP?) or CoE (Curse of exhaustion) for some bonus damage to your -of Imp'ed Corruption. Works very well, just don't forget about it in raids..
Tier 4: Grim Reach 2/2
Increases your range of your affliction spells by 20% fully point'ed in, so when you have an average of 30 yard range boosted to 36%, this helps a lot when casting againts other casters, or melees gankers comin at ya.
Tier 4: Nightfall 2/2
I love this move :) It procs at certain times when Life Drain or corruption hits, and turns your next Shadow Bolt into an instant cast with 2/2. If you are having trouble finishing someone and you have your DoTs up, use Life Drain and hope for this, and when it procs, use it and finish them off.
Tier 4: Empowered Corruption 3/3
An additional 36% damage increase to a DoT? This is simply amazing, with an instant cast corruption it will become one of your most deadly DoT's you have. Get these and have fun with it.
Tier 5: Siphon Life 1/1
This move is an extra DoT for you, which comes in handy a lot of the time. If you just cleared up a mob, I just need this, life drain, and my VW to get my health up if its low. Send in VW, Siphon Life, Life Drain, Life tap, life drain, etc.
Tier 5: Curse of Exhaustion 1/1
This move reduces the movement speed of whoever you use it on by 30% for 12 seconds, but also gets bumped up more be Amplify Curse, so when you have to fear pesty rogues, you just pop this on em and take em down while they come at you.
Tier 6: Shadow Mastery 5/5
Increases damage dealt by ALL shadow spells by an extra 10%. Since more than half your moves are shadow spells, you can see why this is a necesity. And, it applys to DoTs and burst damage, so your left with no regrets.
Tier 7: Contagation 5/5
An extra 5% damage on your DoTs, as well as a chance they won't be dispelled by 30%. Pretty awesome if you ask me. You can use this to help your DoTs do more damage on a target, and stay on the target, really helps.
Tier 8: Improved Howl of Terror
Takes your AoE fear, turns it into an instant cast. Its great. I find myself to be using this more than fear. A friend of mine even asked, "Since when do warlocks have Psychic Scream?"
Destruction part of the spec now...
Destruction
Tier 1: Improved Shadow Bolt 5/5
Since your other move in tier 1 only reduces mana cost by 5% its not needed, and however suddle this may be, it works. If it procs, it will leave a debuff on the target for 5 shadow bolts that will restart timer whenever you hit said target. These allow you to do 20% more damage, so you can see why it is needed.
Tier 2: Bane 5/5
This reduces casting time of your shadow bolt by .5 seconds, and Soulfire by 2 seconds. This move is very well used, as even .5 seconds makes a major difference in casting time, and is very handy to have.
Tier 3: Devastation 5/5
This moves increases your crit chance by 5%, so it doesn't seem like the greatest. However, the move followed up that you need to put points in these for is amazing. But I will get to that later.
Tier 3: Shadowburn 1/1
This move is an instant cast that costs a soul shard to use, but its worth it. And if you kill the target withen 5 seconds of cast, you gte a soul shard back. Its a great finisher move, and I have crit for 1900 with this.
Tier 4: Intensity 2/2
Once again a 70% chance to avoid cast ineruption, except this is for all of your destruction spells. It helps non the less, but some people may not notice it working. Use your AoE's more is my advice to see it working.
Tier 4: Destructive Reach 2/2
This increase the range of your destruction atacks by 20% and decreases threat caused by them by 10%. Since you can really dish out a lot of damage with your shadow bolt, this comes in handy when fighting a boss for a long time.
Tier 5: Ruin 1/1
This move is simply amazing. It increases critical strikes damage bonus by 100%. This means if your normaly adding 500 damage on a cirt, you would do an extra 1000 damage on a cirt. Pretty amazing, eh?
Ruin is your last move you shoould be getting, but if you don't feel it is a necesity to your build, skip it and get unstable affliction instead if thats your thing. Remeber to have fun with your warlock, and if this build isn't working for you, change it up.
