Gamespot was able to interrogate Jeffrey Kaplan, lead designer of anticipated WoW expansion The Burning Crusade. Not many questions were answered, but a few already known details were clarified.
Here is my summary of what was said (for those of you who also suffer from short attention spans):
-Both new and old players will be able to enjoy the game. New Blood Elf and (?) characters will experience the same kind of low-level quests as the older races have. New high-level content will also be included
-The new and still unannounced Alliance race is not focused on being 'the ugly one' for the Alliance's side. Jeffrey explains that they made their choice according to what would fit into the story, and what would be enjoyable and cool to play.
-The expansion features many new quests in old areas of the game, and also includes the new continent. Additionally, new dungeons are being added. All added content will only be accessable by players who have purchased the expansion.
-A socketed item feature will be included, which is closely related to Diablo II's own socketed item system. Some changes have been made such as being able to replace gems at the cost of the old one, and the inclusion of newer types of gems.
-New content is neither focused on large raid groups nor smaller parties of friends. Both types of players should have similar amounts of new things to do.
-The Jewelcrafting profession is being implemented, allowing players to craft rings and amulets and also use the socketed item system.
-Flying mounts have been added to the game, FINALLY allowing players to purchase and/or quest for controllable gryphons, bats, and maybe other types of flying creatures.
It appears that the expansion is shaping up well with plenty of brand new content being included.
