In an effort to bring you the most up to date MMO and PC gaming news we here at GameAmp are starting a weekly series called "This Week in MMO News." This series will highlight the latest technology and gaming news in the industry and bring you exclusive looks at new betas, games in development and things we just dont have network sites dedicated to.

This week in MMO news, Hakkyu Kim, CEO of imcGames and creator of Ragnarok online will bring online gaming to a new level with Sword of the New World: Granado Espada (SOTNW:GE).

To find out more about Grenado Espada and read Meredias's awesome Article or to talk about this and all the new MMOs, FPS, F2P and any other PC game visit our new "This Week in MMO News" Forums located here: MMO Forum

In tech news Microsoft is coming out with a new tabletop PC called the "Surface." This is perhaps the most innovative thing Microsoft has ever done. It holds 5 cameras and is touch sensative. The find out more about it look in our tech news forums at: Tech News Forums

A great addition...  MikesterBrau on 06/12/07 16:26

This will be a great way to mention things on the GameAmp network that do not quite fit under any one site, do not have a site yet, or are of general interest to our community. Well done!! Bravo!

Surface  Sacred Hero on 06/12/07 16:31

Heres a video for the surface computer Click Here!

On another note that we didnt get to this week: GAMEAMP is Featured in Town Crier at Sony Station

Thanks to our very own MikesterBrau! Great Job over at EQ2 Mike keep up the good work!

And ViV for putting together the Ampy Biography Contest that they featured!

Thanks all  MikesterBrau on 06/12/07 16:46

I have to thank former GA EQ2 admin Dread Pirate and EQ2's CM Grimwell and of course V V for making this possible. Also Dru and Grift for the much needed morale when I basically bottomed out. I don't want to jinx things but let me just say some things are coming together nicely for the EQ2 site. :) Last of all I really need to thank some admins from other EQ2 fansites for re welcoming GameAmp to the EQ2 fansite community. :)

I would just like to thank Jebus, and Metal. That is all.

I don't know if I like the idea...
GW is all I care about and important news items tend to be bumped of the first few posts fast enough..

Next thing you'll start sending us newsletters by mail every week.

In fact that would be even better, if we had the opportunity to refuse them!

I mean this news is not at all related to GW at all, yet you cast it network wide, you're just taking up a huge space imo.
Because the articles are not related to one game I suggest you post them somewhere on the http://www.gameamp.com/ site and keep fansite news on topic.

There are already enough off-topic posts on the fansites...

as the tittle of the frame it shows up clearly points out:

Latest Guild Wars News

it is really out of place..
could understand Gameamp news..
maybe we just need another frame on the frontpage of every site

  Feanaro Anwarun on 06/13/07 06:58

I DO like MMO news network wide weekly. Bumped off the first page quickly? GW has 10 news items on the first page... dating back like... 20+ days ago.. :S Come on Trib. Gameamp is a community as a WHOLE.. not the different sites apart.

  Grifter0408 on 06/13/07 07:35

This idea of a MMO news in general is something that has been bumped around for quite a long time amongst the staff. The debate has had every angle thrown at it and the good outweighs the bad. My whole argument against is the fact that we are talking about games not on network but I the response was, our faithful Ampers will come back no matter. Add to that this is info out there already and anyone can get it all the time. I will be honest I just don't haunt Gameamp, I cruise tons of other MMO fan-sites, networks, and such but I always know where my home lies.

There are tons of nice games out there and even if we don't have a specific site for it, its still nice to share this info with you all. As for bumping off news of your favorite site, I think it is something hardly to worry about. Of our 4 Big sites (GW, WoW, CoH, and CoV) the news isn't as quick as it used to be. Each of these games is about 2 years old (some nearly older) and they are on the downswing. One of these game we talk about in MMO news may be the next big Gameamp site for the network. I could remember in days past I could almost post news for CoH everyday, same for WoW but anymore you get one....two if were lucky new items (that are significant enough to warrant news).

So with all that said, as long as we keep the news we post about non-Gameamp site games worthwhile then I think its something we should look forward to. And if you don't like it then just don't read it. This will be once a week thing and its not going to bump off your news item on your favorite Gameamp site. If anyone has any problems or questions feel free to contact me through PM.

  Meredias on 06/13/07 08:19

despite the fact i am writing for this section and i don't want to seem biased i feel Grif is correct. Being a Gameamper for a few years now i often visit other sites but Gameamp has always seemed like "home". I think Gameamp and its staff have always done everthing in their power to provide us with news about the games we all play and love. Seeing how people keep coming back, they must love the comfort and friendly atmosphere Gameamp provides. This being said, Gameamp is doing this to provide is members with extra news they won't need to go elsewhere to find unless they want to know more. Like Grif said if it does not interest you then do not read it. Of course feedback and opinions is welcome but as a member i love the idea of being able to come to the WoW section and still be able to see some news links for some cool things not WoW related. If there is anyway i can assist you with feeling more comfortable about this, or if you have an idea of some news you would like to see talked about in this section feel free to pm me. I am always up for suggestions and i am always here to aid Gameamp, its staff and its members.

You guys don't understand me I think..
The thing is, the idea is nice
The way it's on the site is just a solution because no better options are available.

I say create another frame with amp news
If that won't work coz on this site for example it would be an uneven amount of frames, add another one with the sales forum on, that would make it even.

Another option is do it by mail, let people decide on their own whether they would like to read it or not...

Another option is to post it on www.gameamp.com coz that's the main site who connects all the fansites. People that wanna read it, can read it there then...

But to throw it in with the Guildwars news is a bad idea to me...

Meredias, Grifter is getting the pm ;-)
And as a community, I feel like a part of the Guildwars.gameamp community, not the rest of it... I spend on a lot of times on this subdomain of gameamp, none of it on the other subdomaines of other games...

This is off topic news in the guildwars news section...

grtz

  Evil Geek on 06/13/07 12:49

I have to back Tribina up on this one, I spent over a year as staff on this site and on plenty of occasions Ive spent time creating a newspost that IS specificaly relevant to GW players here only to see it bumped down by other stuff (mostly the GW wide stuff and mostly stuff that really wasnt of any greater importance to players or stuff that was already well known through forum threads).

I play GW I dabble in other games, if I want something new I will look for it.

  Trinneke on 06/13/07 12:56

I agree with Tribina

It's good that you put news about other games but why don't you use an other frame for it?

We dont have the resources to devote to a whole other site for general mmo news right now

Trib didn't say that, he actually gave 3 solutions.
And there is no shame in waiting to post the news until the creators of this site made a special place for it, or designed an email you can subscribe to.

People come to GameAmp to find out the latest about MMOs and thats what this is going to help do. If you dont like it dont read it, ignore it. Its that simple. It will stay network wide.

Ok now thats fundamentaly flawed, people come to guildwars.gameamp because they play GW and like the community here, do they care about other MMO's - some for sure and but some definately don't. Gameamp may be trying to create one happy family of MMO players but I doubt more than 1% play or have played all the MMO's on the network (too many IMO anyway), there is a sizable chunk who wont visit any other forum but the game they play.

  Hydras First on 06/13/07 14:21

Aww c'mon guys, even if its a branch off a fansite for guild wars, its still an MMO, and seriously, does it really matter to show that theres a new MMO coming? I personally like it. Im looking foreward to Granado Espada

  meumesmo on 06/13/07 14:44

I'm out of this one, I yesterday stopped by on Game AMP side and just because I said I stopped playing GW I got some hostility towards me... I'm afraid to go back :(

Anyways, it's for you staff to decide on that, but it could bring a positive "side effect" some people will probably look and be like "wow GW graphics are better, look how good we have it" anyways lol

**smack self, haven't you learned to keep your mouth shut?**

We here at GameAmp are trying something new. We have had member requests and interest in seeing a weekly post overview of the latest MMO news. We don't want to clutter sites with too many posts and the intent is to keep people updated with interesting tidbits of information as well as giving members a chance to contribute to this process.

Please stay open minded while we gauge the response of the masses. So far a majority of the responses have been positive so keep your ideas and requests for new MMOs, Tech and PC gaming news coming! You can always post links, your own news article and ideas in the MMO forums or Tech news Forums on the wow site where they will be hosted for now.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

EG you do have a point.. what you say is true. But does it matter we make a post about new MMO or general MMO news ONCE a week? News being bumped off the first page is just not true.. i mean come on.. 10 news items on the first page dating back 20+ days ago.. So a once a week news item cant do much harm. If you're not interested in it you dont read it, simple as that. About the fact you said it says Guild Wars news.. thats actually not really true, Trib.. Every section on a gameamp fansite has the game's name infront of the section, its programmed that way. It says Guild Wars: News.. if we would make a special section for network wide news like you said it would automatically say Guild Wars: Amp News.. Or Guild Wars: Network wide News.. that wouldnt make sense either.. guild wars network wide news.. :S

My 2 cts  lani on 06/15/07 10:44

Ehm, when I want MMOG News I check Thunderbird for my MMORPG.COM News Feed. When I want to socialize, share things with people or want to ask a newbish question without being called a noob for 20 thread-pages, I go to Gameamp.

Focus on improving the things you're already the best at rather than try to do what others are already doing way better than you with a lot less effort put into it.

A slightly more efficient lay-out with "smarter" components like Network news and Local game news separated somehow has been a want-to-have for as long as I know Gameamp :-)
