Blizzard announced yesterday in Paris, France that WoW will finally go Russian! We have all played with Russian speakers on our servers and know that the game is popular there, now Blizzard acknowledged it as well.
The award-winning MMO has finally been fully localized and liscened for Russian distribution in early 2008. The Russain version (the 5th Official WoW release) will officially support the language as do the French, German, Spanish and English versions already in existance.
For this endevour Blizzard has created a dedicated Russian-speaking team. They are still hiring Russian speakers for community support roles as well in France and Ireland. Their goal with this is to provide the same 24/7 customer service that the other versions already recieve. They are still looking for people for ingame support, community relations, localization and QA, technical support and customer service. A new Russian WoW community site is also in the works.
Blizzard said at the press conference that they will be further exploring language pack downloads and migration to other servers for Russian speakers currently playing.
| QUOTE | | "Considering the scale and enthusiasm of the Russian community, we recognized that offering a dedicated Russian-language version of World of Warcraft was the next important step for the game in Europe," said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We’re looking forward to providing an even more accessible gameplay experience to current and future players." |
