1 year ago, 2.4 million WoW fans were lined up at all computer/video game stores to purchase The Burning Crusade expansion pack for WoW. That day the dark portal was opened and players were allowed to venture into Outlands. In the first 24 hours of release, Burning Crusade sold 2.4 million copies and won awards from industry representatives. World of Warcraft now hosts a ravaging 9 million (and counting) players.
If you still haven't purchased the expansion, you can temporarily upgrade your account to BC as a free trial, here.
The missing expected guest at the birthday party: Wrath of the Lich King, the second expansion. Blizzard clearly failed their declared goal of one expansion per year.
Don't feel bad. Neither did ArenaNet meet their goal of one new Guild Wars Campaign every six months.
lmao, well blizzard NEVER EVER does anything "on time" that is why they hardly ever give a release day, the Nov 08 is just a strong rumor that is out there, one that I have perpetuated quite a bit. It is one that started from staff I know at blizzard, thats when they hope, think, pray it will be out?
But yeah I wouldnt hold your breath on that either.
To be honest, there's no way the expansion is going to be stable on release no matter what the date is. The account management section of the official website will be going down due to traffic, and if you do get to update your account you're going to have to compete for quest mobs with the other 400 people doing the same quest :P
